So lately I’ve been very busy with work, life, sleep, so I haven’t had much time to code anything new for the community, I have received recommendations from people like Iw17, but have had no time to really consider them. So I thought today I’d explain what will be coming in the next week, kinda different from what I usually do of just releasing new stuff and giving everyone a surprise. The reason I’m going to do it this way is I’d like to show you how my mind works when coding this stuff . Plus its not something anyone could steal since its something we do here at RunePlanet that NO one else does.

So when JaGeX released display names it kinda messed up our whole signature thing, wouldn’t it be nice if they would just allow you to search the hiscores using your login name and just show your display name at the top? (hint hint JaGeX). Anyway, as I was saying, when you change your display name the signatures for lack of a better term…break. And since our signatures use a special format you cant just change your username and boom they work again, you have to recreate EVERY signature again, but that will be no longer.

I am currently working on a script that will let people enter their old username, replace it with their new name. Good right? NO. Some people would simply change everyones signature name to their own because they want to mess things up, so what I’m doing is keeping tract of the user who created the signature, so only that person will be able to change the username. This will be done by IP tracking (dont be scared, every site does it, unless its disabled in your Apache settings). This will keep your signatures safe for you, and allow you to change your username on EVERY signature, instead of having to create new signatures each time you change your name.

So hopefully this new update will be out very soon (I should be done with a rough draft by tomorrow).
